Breakfast at Marfells Beach 22nd July

A keen bunch of five headed out to Marfells Beach for breakfast this morning.  Three on bikes and two in a car.  The conditions were excellent, mild and no ice, grit or wet roads.  Sunrise was hampered by the high cloud but it was perfectly calm and the tide was high.  awesome ride.  Wish more had taken advantage, maybe next year.
Cheers,  Nicky #7125

St John’s Ambulance Ride – Sunday 17th June

Hi everyone.

Thanks for your support in attending this year’s ride.  We had a good turnout of mostly public.  It would be great if those of you who didn’t attend but would like to offer a donation towards the St. Johns, get in touch with me so I can get a Badge to you.  Badges are $10.00.   We chose this weekend in conjunction with St. Johns to hold our Ambulance Ride as it coincided with the St. John’s appeal week.  Next year the dates for their appeal week are changing to an earlier (warmer) time of the year.
St John's Ride Sunday 17th June

We met on a cold morning at the St. John’s brand new facility in Surrey Street, Picton.  After a briefing from our St John’s Liaison person Rebecca about how the funds we raise are to be used to buy a new Anatomical Torso Model, we set off following our Police escort.
St John's Ride Sunday 17th June

We rode through to Blenheim arriving at the Blenheim School for a well cooked BBQ.  Thanks to our BBQ helpers, Gill McVie, Jeff & Wendy Champion, & Jane Laing.
We are still selling the left over badges, but to date of writing this report we have raised around $500.00 for the St. Johns.
Thanks again to those who have supported this very well worth cause.

Ride safe.

Lunch with Nelson Ulysses at Jolly Roger – 10th June

A small bunch of Marlborough riders meet up to ride out to Havelock and meet with the Nelson branch who were venturing into our “patch” for lunch at the Jolly Roger in Waikawa Bay.

It was a great day for a ride so no excuses this time.  We left Blenheim with perfect timing to arrive at Havelock at the same time as the Nelson riders arrived. Our assigned meeting place was at the Marina, just by the Slip Inn.
After a couple of minutes catching up, our group now swollen to 30 rode off around the Queen Charlotte Drive towards Picton.  The road was in excellent condition with hardly any grit and definitely no ice as it was a very nice day, sunny and mild – I hadn’t even put my linings in my riding gear.

We arrived at the Jolly Roger, they knew we were coming as we had rung ahead to confirm numbers.  Everyone congregated around the jetty in the sunshine, chatting and having a drink and food.  It was a great chance to catch up with the new coordinator for Nelson Branch, John MacDonald and here his views on some of the issues we are facing at present.

Everyone had a lovely time in the sunshine and as the sun was lowering in the sky we parted our ways and headed for our various homes.
Thanks Nelson, for letting us join in with your crew for the day.  We should do this more often.... in fact we are planning to join up with your crew again soon for your Poker Run.

Cheers

National Annual General Meeting, Nelson 31 March 2012

There seemed to be approx 15 Marlborough members present for the Meeting but it could have been more than that, it was difficult to tell, there didn't  seem to be any cohesive effort to make sure everyone was included and kept informed as to where the other Marlborugh members were and what everyone was doing.
Mike Dew, ex-Canterbury Branch Coordinator was elected as the new National President.
Howard Mansell remains as vice President.
Jim Furneaux (Wellington) was presented with Life Membership.
Murray Hawke (Canterbury) was presented with the Odyssey Medal
Next years AGM (2013) meeting will be in Rotorua, the theme for their evening function will be 'Beach Party' - sounds awesome!
It was announced that the 2016 AGM will be held in Marlborough!

The meeting finally started one and a half hours LATE!

Waiting waiting waiting....

still waiting.......
