To the Burt Munro rally in 2010. 1st long ride on the Buell and with 3 of my cousins that I barely new until then.
What made you decide to join the Ulysses and when did you join the Marlborough branch ?
A friend of mine was joining and it sounded like a good organisation to belong to. Joined in 1990

Seem to always be looking, but I am really enjoying my new Tiger.
What has been your favourite motorcycle ride and why?
It’s bloody hard to pick one but it would have to be the Takaka Hill followed by the gravel roads of Westhaven Inlet and the Cobb Valley – stands out as being “what a weekend that was”.
What made you decide to join the Ulysses and when did you join the Marlborough Branch?
2007 joined. Riding with like minded people and the benefits of being a Ulysses member.

Why did you decide to join the committee?
Because my arm would have broken in the next 30 seconds if I hadn’t said yes! Motorcycling has given me lots of enjoyment over the years and it just seems to be getting better, and I hope to be able to give something back to motorcycling.

What has been your favourite motorcycle ride and why ?
Ride down the upper and lower Buller gorges. Nice ride to my old home town.
What made you decide to join the Ulysses and when did you join the Marlborough branch ?
Ken Anderson (KJ) was a great friend of mine and he talked Wendy and I into riding again. Joined 02/06 2007.
What is your favourite thing about living in Marlborough ?.
The people and the location. Wanted to retire here and have succeded.
Why did you decide to join the committee ?.
I like to keep up with the way things work and put back a little of what I learn.

When did you first start riding motorcycles and what did you
learn to ride on ?.
1974-1975 got my licence on a Fat Wheel Suzuki (don't know name). 1976 joined MOT and learn"t to ride there on Yamaha 500 & X650 Honda CB 650, Suzuki GT 750.
What do you ride now ?.
Up until a couple of weeks ago a 2009 Yamaha FJR 1300 Electric Shift. 1978 BMW R100 RS and Honda CB 900FC.

Have owned the 1978 BMW since 1985. The CB 900 I bought new sold it in 1985 and then bought it back 10>15 years ago. It was my first motorcycle.
What has been your favourite motorcycle ride and why ?.
So far I have enjoyed each motorcycle I have owned . Most recently it would be the Yamaha FJR 1300 electric shift. Easy to ride and very forgiving.
What made you decide to join the Ulysses and when did you join the Marlborough branch ?.
I started riding with them when I was invited as an under ager in about 1990-1991. On my 40th birthday in 1994 I was gifted my membership by Doug Simpson (deceased). He had pre organised it with National and done all the paperwork.
What is your favourite thing about living in Marlborough ?.
The Weather, the people and the fact it is not a busy city.
Why did you decide to join the committee ?.
(I was bullied). I have been in the club for a while now. Time to do my bit.

Joined in 2001. The companionship of riding with other people is always good.

Everyone has to live somewhere. The weathers pretty good for motorcycling, - not that bad weather puts me off anyway!

Will trade up when I win lotto or the Ulysses bike raffle.
What has been your favourite motorcycle ride and why ?
I haven't done much riding for the pleasure of riding until I joined the Ulysses but the most enjoyable one so far was the ride with the Retreades group to nelson through Golden Downs to Tophouse and back down Wairau Valley . Why-good company good roads and great scenery.
What made you decide to join the Ulysses and when did you join the Marlborough Branch ?
Joined 3 &1/2 years ago (Jan 2011) because I heard they were a great bunch of boys and girls to be with, which has proven to be true.

Outdoor pursuits.

Nearly 50 years ago. I rode a 55cc Yamaha Step Thru in those early years.

Hopefully I can keep riding the Spyder into my 80"s.
