It was
a great day for a ride so no excuses this time.
We left Blenheim with perfect timing to arrive at Havelock at the same
time as the Nelson riders arrived. Our assigned meeting place was at the
Marina, just by the Slip Inn.
After a
couple of minutes catching up, our group now swollen to 30 rode off around the
Queen Charlotte Drive towards Picton. The
road was in excellent condition with hardly any grit and definitely no ice as
it was a very nice day, sunny and mild – I hadn’t even put my linings in my
riding gear.
We arrived
at the Jolly Roger, they knew we were coming as we had rung ahead to confirm
numbers. Everyone congregated around the
jetty in the sunshine, chatting and having a drink and food. It was a great chance to catch up with the
new coordinator for Nelson Branch, John MacDonald and here his views on some of
the issues we are facing at present.
Everyone
had a lovely time in the sunshine and as the sun was lowering in the sky we
parted our ways and headed for our various homes.
Thanks
Nelson, for letting us join in with your crew for the day. We should do this more often.... in fact we
are planning to join up with your crew again soon for your Poker Run.
Cheers
