May 2011 Mini Golf with Nelson Ulysses at Picton

Grand Ulysses Inter-Provincial Mini Golf Challenge.

This inaugural event was held at Kiwi Golf Picton in great weather on Sunday May 29th. Unfortunately Nelson did not field a full strength team so players were loaned from Marlborough to enable a strong even competition. Tee off happened under the watchful eye of Proprietor Peter Bishell to enforce the rules and intervene if any altercations took place. He was well aware of our motto !

Players performance varied from Brilliant (or lucky) to dismal. One standout performer was Wendy Champion who shot one brilliant hole in one and several under par holes as well.

Once the game was over those who wished had a BYO Barbeque cook up and get together, and thanks are due to DeReeper’s for the BBQ equipment and Megan T. for transporting it to the venue.

Proprietor Peter brought along the computer generated results which gave a victory to Marlborough by a small margin in this close fought battle. He donated a voucher as a prize which will be awarded at our mid-year dinner.

The production of a trophy is planned for this event and with more planning , to make this an annual event to be held over both centres. Considering that a team of our foremost players were out of the country, this could be seen as a real success with a strong turnout of bikes for a winter event.
